    The landmark LIFTMOR trial randomized postmenopausal women with low bone mass to supervised high-intensity resistance and impact training or a home-based control program. The training group improved lumbar spine and femoral neck bone mineral density plus functional performance, with high compliance and no serious adverse events.

    Supervised high-intensity loading increased BMD in a population usually advised to avoid it.
